57th Annual Performance of Handel’s Messiah
Sunday, November 22, 2026
3:00 PM | Holland Performing Arts Center
Come Hear the Messiah
Every November, Voices of Omaha fills the Holland Performing Arts Center with Handel’s Messiah, offered to the community as a gift. You don’t need to know the music or have attended a classical concert before. Just come, settle in, and listen.
From the Director
Artistic director Paul L. Koenig shares more about Voices of Omaha and the annual performance at the Holland Performing Arts Center in an interview with KETV in 2019.
Free to Attend
There are no tickets and no reservations. Simply arrive and sit anywhere in the auditorium. The concert is free to attend with a free-will offering, which means you’re invited to give whatever amount feels right to you, if you choose to. Those gifts help keep the concert free for the next audience.
Getting There
The Holland Performing Arts Center is located at 1200 Douglas Street in downtown Omaha. Street parking is available nearby, and there are available parking garages north of the concert hall.
For more information on available parking, including updates on any road closures, read the latest from Omaha Performing Arts.
Before the Concert
Arrive a little early to enjoy a baroque dance demonstration in the lobby before the performance begins.
What to Expect
The performance begins at 3:00 PM and runs about two and a half hours, including an intermission. On stage, professional musicians are joined by a volunteer chorus of Omaha community members. Each year’s program features a selection of Handel’s Messiah, so you may hear a few different pieces from one year to the next.
When the Hallelujah Chorus begins, the audience stands. It’s one of the oldest traditions in classical music, and you’re warmly invited to join in.
Sign language interpreters will be part of the performance, so everyone in our community can experience the music.
Inspired to be a part of it?
Handel’s Messiah has been a gift to Omaha since 1969, and it stays free because neighbors keep showing up. Add your voice to the chorus or help support the concert, and become part of a tradition that belongs to all.
