Rehearsal Details
Sunday rehearsals take place at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church (7706 S. 96th Street, La Vista). Parking is free and accessible in the church parking lot. Enter on the east side of the building.
Bring your score and a pencil to take notes. Water bottles are also allowed in the building.

Performance Details
The performance takes place at the Holland Performing Arts Center (1200 Douglas Street, Omaha). Chorus members enter through the north doors facing Dodge Street. Paid parking is available in the parking garage north of the Holland or on the street. Street parking is free on Sundays.
For the Saturday rehearsal:
- Dress casual and comfortable.
- Bring your score and a pencil. Scores should be covered in black.
- Water bottles will be allowed to bring on stage for rehearsal.
For the Sunday performance:
- Dress in concert black.
- For women: a solid black long-sleeved dress, or a solid black long-sleeved blouse with a solid black floor-length skirt or slacks, paired with black shoes. Please keep jewelry minimal (discreet earrings only, if any) and skip perfume.
- For men: a black tux or suit with a white shirt, black bow tie, black socks, and black shoes. Please skip cologne. Tuxes are provided for high school singers if needed, with a fitting at a local tux shop.
- Bring your score. Scores should be covered in black.
- Water bottles will not be allowed on stage.
Practice Online
You are welcome to listen to recordings and watch videos to practice outside of rehearsal. We recommend using the website Chord Perfect, which allows you to separate the audio and listen to only your section.
- Visit the Chord Perfect page: www.chordperfect.com/george-handel/
- In the Messiah column, select your section (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, or Bass).
- You will see an audio player with the complete list of songs. Click the song you want to sing and it will automatically begin playing.
- Use the buttons in the audio player to play, move back, slow down the track, or reset to return to the normal speed.

Where do rehearsals and the performance take place?
Sunday rehearsals are held at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church (7706 S. 96th Street, La Vista, Nebraska); enter through the main doors facing 96th Street. The Saturday orchestra rehearsal and Sunday performance both take place at the Holland Performing Arts Center (1200 Douglas Street, Omaha, Nebraska); enter through the stage door facing Dodge Street.
Where do I park?
At Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, there’s plenty of free parking surrounding the building. At the Holland Center, you’ll find street parking or the parking garage just north across Dodge Street.
Are rehearsals open to visitors?
No, rehearsals are closed to the public, including friends and family who aren’t singing with the group.
Can I miss a rehearsal?
Yes. We encourage attending every rehearsal, but you’re allowed to miss one Sunday rehearsal. Attendance at the Saturday orchestra rehearsal and Sunday performance is required. If you have concerns about missing rehearsals, please reach out and let us know.
Can I use my own Messiah score?
Yes. The conductor and orchestra perform from Bärenreiter parts, and most of the chorus sings from that edition, though scores from G. Schirmer or Novello are also acceptable. Bärenreiter vocal scores are provided for all high school singers.
Can I practice outside of rehearsal?
Yes, we encourage you to review and practice your section outside of rehearsal. We recommend using Chord Perfect, where you can separate and listen to only your part for each song.
What is community outreach?
Community outreach performances bring the Messiah to people who might not otherwise hear it performed live. While locations vary each year, past outreach performances have taken place at the Siena Francis House, the Revive Center, and New Cassel Retirement Center. More details for this year’s plan will be announced during rehearsal.
What is the dress code for the performance?
All singers wear concert black.

Which pieces from the Messiah do we perform?
We don’t perform the Messiah in its entirety. Our artistic director selects the program each year, and while many favorites return annually, a few selections change from year to year.
