A Chorus Made of Community
Voices of Omaha’s chorus is made up of your neighbors. Teachers, retirees, students, nurses, and everyone in between come together each fall to prepare Handel’s Messiah. No audition is required, just a willingness to show up and sing.
A typical season runs through October and November, with rehearsals every Sunday followed by a Saturday dress rehearsal before the Sunday performance. There are also opportunities to join for community outreach performances, bringing the Messiah to people who might not otherwise hear it performed live. While locations vary each year, past outreach performances have taken place at the Siena Francis House, the Revive Center, and New Cassel Retirement Center.
Chorus membership includes annual dues, though the cost is covered entirely for high school students and active military members and veterans, including any needed music scores. Throughout the year, members are also welcome to take part in fundraising efforts that help keep the concert free for the community that comes to hear it.
